Damian & Anecke Sharp, Intimate wedding. Cannon Rocks

Covid-19 really messed with everyones plans for 2020. Damian and Anecke planned this magical wedding at Forest Hall estate in Natures Valley, Western Cape. But with the province boarders being closed, they had to make another plan but they were GETTING MARRIED. Luckily for them, they had an amazing team of vendors and we all started brainstorming. Anecke’s best friend and the owner of Dusty Pink Events, Anri, suggested their family home in Cannon Rocks. It is this beautiful house right on the beach front, perfectly fit for an intimate wedding. After lots of back and forth and planning, they finally decided on using Anri’s family holiday home and to live stream the ceremony so that everyone could attend virtually. And they could not have made a better decision. I am sure you will agree with me that this space is pure magic once you browse the gallery.

As if COVID wasn’t enough, they predicted some gale force winds for the wedding day. So I went and fetched Anecke the day before the wedding and we went scouting for possible photo spots that would be somewhat sheltered from the wind. And we found the perfect spot on a friend’s farm just outside Cannon Rocks. We found this little barn that was sheltered enough and decided right there on the spot. The wind added such a dramatic element to the photographs, that I am almost set on only shooting weddings in strong winds. Just kidding, ok maybe not.

This wedding may not have included everyone as they wished, but it was perfect with just their direct family and bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever had the privilege to document. There is just something about intimate weddings that grabs at your heartstrings. Every moment was so authentic and real, and there wasn’t a grumpy face in sight.
